Photography is intrinsic to Trinidad's daily life. She may record her life and the lives of those around her but Trinidad is not a documentary photographer. She is constantly seeking out the magical moments in our daily routines, when stories hint at a different reality and our subconscious waits to be awakened. The innocent, dream like, almost surreal aspects of her work replace our idea of the ordinary and turn it into something extraordinary.
It is art, in its purest form, giving visual sense to the something that interests the artist, while simultaneously engaging the viewer into their own dialogue with the imagery. Her photographs are that "moment when word becomes image" as Natasha Christea writes in her interview with Trinidad for 1000 Words.
Trinidad's project "Braiding" is an ongoing project that started 1997. On her website she displays the series in chronological order, separating groups of images into discreet time periods. Its stimulus, like all her work, has the structure and feel of a diary as it interweaves between places and people and time. As new photographs join the project, so Trinidad sees new connections and sets about forming a new braid of images.
