When shooting his meditation on the seemingly fundamental conflict between man and nature, Hin finds potential sites on maps in which he can hunt out the scenes which best expresses the tension between these two adversaries.
At Ponders End, in Greater London, the gentle pastoral view of trees in full leaf is brought back into urban relief by the gasometer looming in the distance, which in turn undermines the idea of clean washing hanging up on the line. It is these juxtapositions that appeal to Hin and provide the tension in his images.
