Avoiding the digital process of image manipulation Maggy created a constructed tableaux, which she then photographed. Taking a picture frame and gradually filling it with objects to build a composition for the camera, she created fanciful scenes that have a 3-D impression of depth. Influenced by the painter Juan Sanchez Cotan, she suspended fish on thread and created the illusion of them swimming amongst handbags, coloured tinsel and foil and a scattering of house plants.
There is a strong sense of play in these images, in which the beautiful use of colour and carefully composed stage sets result in a vibrant and humorous modern day still lifes.
