In a city where the lights are never turned off Tokyo produces a permanent twilight in the form of a neon haze of flashing advertising hoardings, traffic signals and street lights that make up the rich and dense night life of Japan's capital.
Toby de Silva was seduced by the visual richness of these urban scenes and went in search of the back streets and dead spaces that collided with the transport infrastructure to produce his evocative series "Nocturnal".
Attracted by the patterns formed by the crossroads, interlaced with telephone wires and architecture Toby waited for the seemingly obedient actors to arrange themselves on this theatrical stage to make up his city tableaux.
