An informal Q & A

Which photographer or artist do you most admire?

Clint Eastwood would definitely be up there. If I had to pick a photographer, it would probably be Joel Sternfeld.

What artwork, where money is no object, would you like to hang on your wall?

Assuming I have a big enough wall, it will probably be Guernica by Picasso.

What is the worst commission you have ever had?

Doing promotional shots for a chain of hotels that were run down. Instead of doing them up, they figured I could make them look better than they where. I couldn't.

What is the best commission you have ever had?

Any commission that I am free to shoot in my own style. Doesn't happen very often.

Which famous artists, living or dead, would you invite to a dinner party?

Martin Parr and Philip Jones Griffiths. I would just sit back and watch the 'heated discussions'. Maybe Adam Broomberg, Oliver Chanarin and Robert Capa.

When are you at your happiest?

Days out with my family knowing the house is tidy.

What is your most treasured possession?

My boy racer car, only because I can't afford a real sports car.

What book are you reading at the moment?

Toddler taming.

What made you laugh recently?

My daughter throwing the fakest tantrum.

What really winds you up?

Crap drivers and picture editors who treat photographs like dirt.

What would your dream project be?

Something that involves a long American road trip.

What do you do when not working?

I love playing my guitar (a real one) and banging on my drums (the playstation version) Also I spend a lot of time in Kew Garden with my girls.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Quite often from music. Moods inspire me to see things differently.

How would you like to be remembered?

As a kind person.

What music would you like played at your funeral?

Nothing Else Matters - Metallica.
