Which photographer or artist do you most admire?
It's hard to pick one but at this point in time Mitch Epstein: The man can do it all (almost) and he's getting better with age.
What artwork, where money is no object, would you like to hang on your wall?
I'd like nothing more than a big, beautiful print of Joel Sternfeld's photograph, "Mclean, Virginia". It's been a consistent source of inspiration to me during times both good and bad.
Which famous artists, living or dead, would you invite to a dinner party?
William Klein, Jeff Buckley, Graham Greene and Sophie Calle.
When are you at your happiest?
When I'm outside photographing in the middle of seemingly nowhere.
What is your most treasured possession?
I'd probably be most upset if I lost my camera, so as predictable as it is, my Mamiya 7. Actually I'd probably be most upset if I lost my negatives. Now is that just pathetic?
What book are you reading at the moment?
Inverting the Pyramid: The History of Football Tactics. It's deliciously nerdy, but in a way you can apply to pub conversations with complete strangers.
What made you laugh recently?
The Perry Bible Fellowship.
What really winds you up?
Mouthy beggars.
What would your dream project be?
All I'd ask is for more time to photograph what I'm currently doing at the moment, with an overseas trip every couple of months or so. Oh, and someone to help with my scanning.
What do you do when not working?
Apologising to friends for not having seen them for six months because I've been too busy working.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
My friends, books, movies, strange places on maps and any photographer making work so good that I want to throw up.
How you would you like to be remembered?
"He said what I was thinking!"
What music would you like played at your funeral?
Iggy & The Stooges: Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell
