An informal Q & A

Which photographer or artist do you most admire?

Only one? I'd say Kraftwerk. Oh no, it's a band. Well, Marcel Proust then. No! Francis Bacon or Joe Strummer.

What artwork, where money is no object, would you like to hang on your wall?

I am very happy with what I have on my wall: the silhouette of a bunny by artist Sherry Olsen. And money was no object.

What is the worst commission you have ever had?

As a recording engineer, working with a neurotic wannabe rockstar.

What is the best commission you have ever had?

As a photographer, I only had one commission. That was for a pianist / cat lover friend of mine and it was the best so far.

Which famous artists, living or dead, would you invite to a dinner party?

Lee Friedlander?

When are you at your happiest?

Another shooting day in Tokyo!

What is your most treasured possession?

Good health.

What made you laugh recently?

Myself, I guess. Most of the time, I am the source of my own entertainment.

What really winds you up?

I don't understand that expression...

What would your dream project be?

A big mobile installation with photos hanging in mid air and musique concrete.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Working a lot on stupid ideas or impossible projects generates inspiration.

How you would you like to be remembered?

Fondly.

What music would you like played at your funeral?

I immediately thought of "Waltzinblack" by the Stranglers, but that would be mean. Right answer: "For Harry Carney", Charles Mingus.
